What is a USI?
From the 1st of January 2015 all students undertaking nationally recognised training in Australia must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). It is a unique number that is allocated to anyone studying nationally recognised training in Australia from 1st January 2015. Your USI will help keep your training records and results together in an online account controlled by YOU. Each time you enrol to study with a new training organisation, your USI will be used to store your training records and results.
By having a USI you will be able to access your training records and results (or transcript) whenever you need them and this will make it easier when you are applying for a job or enrolling in a further study as you will often need to provide your training records and results. You only need one USI number for all your training and it’s yours for life.
Your USI can be accessed online from your computer, tablet or smartphone and gives you access to your training records and results at your fingertips.
The USI will be available online and at no cost to the student. You will need to disclose your USI to every training organisation you complete training with.
How do I get a USI?
Firstly, visit https://www.usi.gov.au/ and have one form of valid ID ready. This could be your Driver’s Licence, Medicare card, Passport, or other forms listed on the website. Once you agree to the Terms & Conditions, you are ready to go!!!
Enter your personal details, the details on your form of ID, choose a security question and a password and YOU HAVE CREATED A USI!
** Don’t forget to write your USI down and take it along to all your training courses! **
Can I still attend training if I do not have a USI?
Yes! If you do not have access to a computer prior to training to register for a USI, you can sign an authorisation form for us to apply for one for you. You will then receive your login details via email.
Please Note: No Statement of Attainment, Qualification Certificate or Interim Certificate will be issued until we have your USI in our system.
